BoCoPreps 10&10: Week 12

Nov. 1—Each full week of the fall season, BoCoPreps will highlight 10 teams and 10 players that had exceptional performances. While our staff will utilize multiple avenues to compile these lists, readers are encouraged to submit nominations to our email (results@bocopreps.com).

This is the final edition of the fall 10&10.

10 Teams

Boulder boys soccer: Owen Kalisher had seven saves, and Jose Ordaz and Victor Torres each had a goal and an assist as Boulder edged Doherty, 2-1, in the Class 5A state tournament first round last Wednesday.

Centaurus cross country: The boys team captured yet another state team trophy in the sport — second place — however this one might have meant more as the Warriors were bumped to Class 5A this season.

Erie football: The Tigers wrapped up Class 4A League 2 undefeated with a 44-6 win over Greeley Central. Senior Evan Rearick was 8-of-13 for 165 yards and two touchdowns to help EHS get to 6-4 on the season.

Erie volleyball: The Tigers went 3-1 at the Colorado Invitational, dropping just one set in wins over Silver Creek, Mullen and Coronado before losing to Cheyenne Mountain. Senior Rowan Ramsay averaged 2.9 kills per set for the tournament.

Frederick football: In a 35-34 thriller over Mead that pushed the Golden Eagles to 7-2, Cruz Zamudio had 174 total yards, Kooper Anderson had nine tackles and a kickoff return for a touchdown, and Joseph Villani had an interception and a fumble recovery.

Holy Family football: The Tigers smashed Lincoln, 56-0, on Saturday to improve to 6-3 on the season. Dom Gabriel was a beast, logging two offensive touchdowns, five tackles on defense and also snagging an interception in the win.

Monarch football: Aidan Murray helped MoHi secure a playoff spot in Class 4A, bulldozing his way for 219 rushing yards on 26 carries with two scores as the Coyotes beat Silver Creek, 31-21, Friday night.

Niwot cross country: No shocker here — the girls were simply dominant in Class 4A and won another championship while the boys fought hard for second place.

Peak to Peak boys soccer: The Pumas have now won four straight after a Class 3A state tournament-opening 3-0 win over Lamar. Peak to Peak hasn't been scored on since Oct. 11.

Silver Creek boys soccer: The Raptors had five different scorers in a 6-0 pasting of Fort Morgan as part of the opening round of the Class 4A state tournament last Thursday. Fabrizio Giovenzana had a goal and two assists as SCHS moved on.

10 Players

Brandon Fellows-Mason, Centaurus soccer: The junior was just part of an explosive CHS performance in the first round of the Class 4A state tournament, but he scored two goals in the 6-1 win over Fruita Monument.

Nolan Hoffman, Mead cross country: No doubt the surprise area finisher, Hoffman won the Class 4A boys championship at Saturday's state meet.

Evan Kulstad, Broomfield soccer: The sophomore keeper needed to be big against Legend in the Class 5A state tournament first round, and he held his end with seven saves as BHS won, 1-0.

Evan Kraus, Erie cross country: In his final prep cross country event, Kraus placed 16th in the tough Class 5A boys field at state.

Cloe Ruth, Silver Creek cross country: While Niwot came across the finish line in bunches, Ruth blazed a lone trail for the Raptors and finished seventh at the Class 4A state meet in just her sophomore season.

Armando Sanchez, Skyline soccer: Sanchez scored the winner for the Falcons in a 1-0, double-overtime thriller against Skyview as part of the Class 4A state tournament.

Cooper Stephens, Legacy soccer: Stephens was once again unstoppable in the Lightning's 4-1 Class 5A state tournament-opening victory over Overland, notching two goals and an assist to keep top-seeded LHS marching.

Cole Thomas and Sage Wynja, Lyons cross country: Thomas and Wynja flew in together at 11th and 12th place at the Class 2A state championships in Colorado Springs.

Sierra Wall, Fairview cross country: The sophomore ran an excellent race at the 5A state meet in Colorado Springs, finishing 16th with a time of 18:44.90 — less than 15 seconds out of a top-10 slot.

Chance Wood, Centaurus football: Threw for a career-best five touchdown passes — on just 13 completions and 20 overall attempts — as the Warriors got past Gateway on Saturday afternoon.
