Bodies of two Georgian volunteer fighters repatriated
Two veterans of the 2008 Russian-Georgian war killed recently fighting for Ukraine will be buried in Georgia, News Georgia news portal said on July 1.
The bodies of the two fighters have been repatriated to their native country.
Malkhaz Kvizhinadze was killed in Luhansk this week.
Joni Odishvili suffered a severe shrapnel injury to his head near Bakhmut. Doctors fought for his life, but he didn't survive.
Up to 50 Georgian volunteer fighters have died in Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian full-scale invasion.
Expressing his condolences to the families of killed soldiers, Andriy Yermak, the head of the Presidential Office, said that "war, unfortunately, means losses."
Four Georgian citizens fighting for Ukraine against Russian invasion forces died in the first week of April alone.
The death of 29-year-old Mikhail Mazanashvili, originally from the Gori Municipality, was reported on April 1.
Vakhtang Barabadze and David Kuchukyan were killed near Bakhmut in Donetsk Oblast two days later.
Another Georgian volunteer Arsen Ketsbay, born in the Georgian city of Zugdidi, died in Ukraine on April 7.
