KENOSHA - The body of a Green Bay man who has been missing since early September was found in a wooded area near a Kenosha factory, the Kenosha Police Department said Monday.

Christopher Belanger, 41, had originally been reported missing by police Sept. 27. Police said Belanger had been injured in a disturbance Sept. 6 and had not had contact with his family since then.

Belanger's vehicle had been found Oct. 13 in a Kenosha repair shop. Previously, police had received tips that Belanger might have been spotted in Kenosha, Waukesha and Manitowoc.

Belanger's body was found in a wooded area of the 7600 block of 60th Avenue in Kenosha. There "were no obvious signs of trauma" on his body, police said.

Belanger's younger sister, Samantha Webster, posted a statement from the family Monday on her Facebook page thanking everyone who assisted in the search efforts for Christopher.

"He is flying high with the angels," she said. "We know that people all over the world (literally) have shared our posts and we want to make sure everyone knows it's time to rest."

She added, "If you are struggling with substance use or mental health challenges, please reach out for help. We promise you, there is hope."

People responding to her post remembered Christopher as a kind, compassionate man who had made a positive impact on their lives. Webster said his funeral was planned for Nov. 4.

The Kenosha Police Department is still investigating the cause of Belanger's death. They ask anyone with information is asked to contact the Kenosha Police Department Detective Bureau at 262-605-5203 or Kenosha Area Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333.
