Body found in Belton wooded area believed to be missing 30-year-old man

BELTON, Mo. — The body of a deceased person located in a wooded area in Belton, Missouri Tuesday is believed to be that of a 30-year-old man who was reported missing last week, according to police.

The Belton Police Department reported Joshua Johnston missing on Wednesday, Jan. 17. He was last seen in the Belton area on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023.

The person that reported him missing told police Johnston was homeless and they did not have a way to contact him.

On Tuesday, police said a deceased male located in a wooded area off of Cunningham Parkway is believed to be that of Johnston.
