Body found on canal bank identified as 32-year-old Modesto man. Detectives investigating

The body of a man found on a south Modesto canal bank was identified Monday morning as 32-year-old Erik Estrada.

Estrada’s body was discovered by a woman walking her dog at about 6:45 a.m. on Sunday morning. The body was found on a canal bank near Las Vegas Street in the area of Hanshaw Middle School and The Salvation Army Red Shield Center, The Modesto Bee previously reported.

The circumstances surrounding Estrada’s death are still under investigation. Detectives hope the results of his autopsy on Monday morning will provide more details for their investigation, said Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Luke Schwartz.
