Body found in charred vehicle in Nelson County

NELSON COUNTY — Authorities said a body was found Sunday morning inside a burned vehicle in Nelson County.

Sheriff Mark Embrey of the Nelson County Sheriff's Office said deputies were dispatched to Norwood Road near the intersection of Richmond Highway in the Gladstone area at 9 a.m. on Sunday. Deputies found a vehicle destroyed by fire, and the vehicle was still smoldering, according to a Facebook post.

Embrey said the body found in the vehicle has been sent to the medical examiner's office in Richmond for identification.

The Nelson County sheriff said additional information will be released as the investigation continues.
