Body found in N.A.D. Park identified as Indiana man missing from Navy command

An Indiana man who went missing from his Navy command in July was identified as the individual found dead in Jackson Park later that month, the Kitsap County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed.

Joshua Arquiza, 24, was identified as the body found in Jackson Park on July 26. Arquiza's body was discovered after a person smelled the odor of decomposition and found a body near the water in the area of Grays Harbor Court, which is just north of Bremerton's N.A.D. Marine Park, according to Bremerton police.

The Navy confirmed to Kitsap Sun that Arquiza was assigned to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Bremerton, according to Marc Rockwell-Pate, Naval Medical Forces Pacific Public Affairs Officer.

Arquiza was reported as being in an unauthorized absence status on July 14, Rockwell-Pate said.

The cause and manner of Arquiza's death are pending the return of toxicology and outside testing results, according to the medical examiner's office.

Naval Criminal Investigative Service is conducting a joint investigation with the Bremerton Police Department and will not comment while the investigation continues out of respect for the investigative process, said NCIS spokesperson Jeff Houston.
