Body of Memorial Day drowning victim recovered

Jun. 4—The body of a Memorial Day drowning victim has been recovered.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Marine Patrol Division, the body of Frankie D. Cruce, 60, of Cullman was located in approximately 42 feet of water on Smith Lake at approximately 7:20 p.m. Friday.

Cruce went overboard attempting to retrieve a canopy that fell from his boat near Miller's Flats on Monday afternoon.

Funeral services for Cruce were Monday at Good Hope Cemetary.
