Body of Mississippi Deputy Killed in Line of Duty Escorted Back Home

The body of Michael Boutte, a Hancock County sheriff’s deputy who was killed in the line of duty on February 1, was escorted by Louisiana State Troopers and other law enforcement agencies back home to Mississippi the following day.

Mississippi police said Boutte responded to a “welfare concern” call at Earl C Ladner Road in Perkinston on February 1. He was wounded in an exchange of fire and taken to hospital in New Orleans, where he died.

Louisiana State Police said his body was escorted back to Mississippi by “officers and deputies from the New Orleans Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Slidell Police Department, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office, and other agencies.” Credit: Louisiana State Police via Storyful
