Missing Brooklyn man, 41, found wrapped in tarp near New Jersey roadway

The body of a Brooklyn man reported missing in early April was discovered last week wrapped in a tarp alongside a Bayonne, N.J. highway, authorities said Wednesday.

The remains of Jose Rivera, 41, were found in a wooded area near the 63rd St. exit along Route 440 on April 27, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Police searched the location after receiving a report about a body wrapped in a tarp, officials said. Cops then located the remains, which were later identified as Rivera.

Rivera was reported missing on April 12, the NYPD said. He was last seen around Linden St. and Kickerbocker Ave. in Bushwick.

A poster distributed in the neighborhood and attributed to a sister says Rivera was “beaten badly” at an address nearby.

“Please, my brother is a son, a father, a brother, an uncle, a cousin,” the poster says. “He is very important and very loved by his friends and family.”

“We are going crazy with grief not knowing where my brother is,” the poster says. “Please help. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation.”

The NYPD is investigating along with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, officials said. The cause of death is pending the findings of an autopsy.
