Police have released body camera footage of the moment an unruly flight attendant on leave was removed from a Delta Air Lines flight diverted to Oklahoma City on June 11. The man had been subdued and “flex-cuffed” by passengers.
This footage, released on June 17, shows the man, identified by local media as Atlanta resident Stephon Jamar Duncan, being removed from the flight. The plane was traveling from Los Angeles to Atlanta when it was diverted to Will Rogers World Airport.
In a statement reported by The Oklahoman, Delta Air Lines said the passenger was an “inactive flight attendant” with the company, and was on leave at the time of the incident.
The Oklahoman, citing a police report, said during the effort to subdue Duncan, he pushed an off-duty Delta crew member against a wall and began choking her. He also ignored orders to stop addressing passengers about turbulence over the aircraft’s PA system, and had stashed items including food, trash, and tennis balls throughout the plane. He was arrested and accused of misdemeanor assault and battery on members of the flight crew, the report said.
