Two days after the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office confirmed former NFL quarterback Ryan Mallett drowned at a beach in Destin, bodycam footage was released.

The OCSO was investigating the drowning after first responders were called to the beach behind the 700 block of Gulf Shore Drive in Destin about 2:12 p.m. Tuesday, June 27.

Below are things to know about Ryan Mallett, the apparent drowning and what is shown on the bodycam.

What does bodycam footage of Ryan Mallett drowning incident show?

The bodycam footage, released by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office on Thursday, shows people near the shore. The officer was running on the beach to respond to the incident. (You can watch the bodycam footage above.)

"I think they've got him on the board now," a law enforcement official says in the video, referring to the former NFL quarterback.

The bodycam footage then cuts to a brief scene with ambulances, several squad cars and a fire truck.

Okaloosa County Sheriff Eric Aden then appears in a press conference video: "The recent event in Destin yesterday, the tragic loss of life. It's always difficult when we lose a tourist or a resident here, but we have no indication of any dangerous conditions out there. The entire Okaloosa County as well as Destin, we're not under red flags or double red flags despite some of the misperceptions out there. We were under a yellow flag, which is just 'swim with caution.' It just seems to be just a tragic accident and not something to do with the conditions of the surf or tides or currents."
