NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A boil water advisory has been issued for a portion of New Orleans East on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans announced the following areas are affected:

New Orleans City Council to discuss $100M electric grid improvements

  • Martin Drive (from Morrison Road to Hayne Boulevard)

  • Hayne Boulevard (from Martin Drive to Intracoastal Waterway)

  • Intracoastal Waterway (from Hayne Boulevard to Morrison Road)

  • Morrison Road-Lakeside Only (from Intracoastal Waterway to Martin Drive)

The advisory was issued after a water main broke near Downman Road and Hayne Boulevard.

Those in the affected areas should use bottled or boiled tap water to drink, cook, clean food or brush teeth.

Water should be brought to a rolling boil in a clean container for a full minute. If the water has a flat taste afterward, shake it in a bottle or pour it from one container to another.

According to the water department, once the break has been repaired, it could take up to 24 hours before sample results come back.
