Boil water advisory issued in Rostraver

Aug. 5—Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County water customers in Rostraver are under a boil water advisory following a Thursday night water main break.

Officials said 265 customers, many along the Interstate 70 corridor and an area near Cedar Creek Park, are under the advisory.

Authority spokesman Matthew Junker called the advisory a "precaution" put in place after the water main break on Finley Road drained the lines. Repair work on the broken line was finished at noon on Friday, but the advisory was issued after officials detected a loss of positive water pressure caused by back flow into the line that could signify the potential for contamination into the distribution system.

Testing for contaminates is underway and results are expected to take at least 48 hours, according the the authority.

Water buffaloes are available at the Rostraver Municipal Building and at the entrance of Cedar Creek Park.
