Boil water advisory lifted in Mansfield Borough

MANSFIELD, Pa. (WETM) – The water boil advisory that went into effect last week in Mansfield Borough has been lifted, according to an announcement from the borough on Facebook on Monday morning.

According to the statement released by the borough, the water system was tested to ensure that the water was safe to drink on both Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Both tests came back negative for containing harmful contaminants.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection doesn’t have any specific guidance regarding the flushing of pipes or hot water heaters, but if you’re concerned about potential risks, the borough provides the following suggestions:

  • Run your cold water for a minute

  • Flush your hot water tanks, running water for 15 minutes for a 40-gallon tank and 30 minutes for a 80-gallon tank

  • Run your dishwasher through one empty cycle
