Boil water advisory partially lifted for Uptown

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The boil water advisory that was in effect for some of Uptown has been partially lifted, with some homes remaining under advisory on Friday, Feb. 2.

The boil water advisory began on Thursday after a water main break on an existing 120-year-old 30-inch water line on S. Claiborne Avenue near Octavia Street.

Leaders with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans said the following homes are still under precautionary boil water advisory:

  • 200 block of Audubon Boulevard

  • 6300 block of S. Johnson Street

  • 5430 S. Claiborne Ave.

  • 5436 S. Claiborne Ave.

  • 5500 S. Claiborne Ave.

  • 5508 S. Claiborne Ave.

  • 5510 S. Claiborne Ave.

  • 6102 S. Claiborne Ave.

  • 6112 S. Claiborne Ave.

  • 2852 State St.

  • 3000 Calhoun St.

SWBNO officials said residents in the impacted areas will need to boil their water or use bottled water to drink, cook, clean and brush their teeth until the advisory is lifted.

SWBNO officials will notify residents when the boil water advisory is canceled for remaining areas.
