Boil water notice lifted for 9 Holland houses

HOLLAND — A precautionary boil water advisory for nine homes served by the Holland Board of Public Works was lifted Sunday, Dec. 12.

HBPW issued the boil water notice after a Dec. 8 water main break. The utility said the affected homes, all on 10th Street with addresses between 644 and 673 10th St. and 244 Waverly Rd., should boil water before consumption and use for making ice or brushing teeth as a precaution until the utility could determine if the water was safe to drink.

The water main break was repaired quickly but HBPW said the drop in pressure caused by the disruption could have allowed bacteria to enter the water system.
