Boiler girls swat away Mendota in TRAC basketball play

The Kewanee Boiler Girls cruised to a 56-27 win at Mendota Wednesday for a TRAC-East win.

Kewanee used a 7-0 run to start the game and a 10-0 run to start the second period to build 33-11 halftime advantage and were easily ahead 45-20 after three quarters.

The Boiler Girls were led by Emma Crofton and Marissa Stevens.

Crofton totaled 16 points, 4 rebounds 3 assists and 4 steals for the game while Stevens contributed 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals.

Junior Larissa Meyer added 10 points while senior Kiarra Rodgers had a team high 7 rebounds. Senior Emily Eggimann chipped in with 6 assists and senior Lainey Kelly added 5 steals. Mendota was led by sophomore Renna Brant's 16 points.

With the win Kewanee improves to 8-8 on the season and remains a perfect 6-0 in the conference.

Led by Avery Yepsen's 14 points, Kewanee's sophomores defeated Mendota by the score of 34-17 in the preliminary game. The sophomores now stand 6-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference.
