Boise Mayor Lauren McLean has tested positive for COVID-19, she said Monday.

“Thanks to the vaccine my symptoms are mild,” McLean said in a tweet. “I’ll be working virtually until I’m cleared to be in the office again.”

Boise’s interim spokesperson Maria Weeg told the Idaho Statesman by phone that no upcoming events or meetings are expected to be postponed because of McLean testing positive.

McLean was at her daughter’s out-of-state college graduation recently, Weeg said, but she didn’t know exactly when the mayor was exposed.

No other city officials were exposed or needed to self-isolate, Weeg told the Statesman.

“(McLean) had been wearing a mask pretty exclusively at City Hall because she had been traveling quite a bit,” Weeg said.

A little over 55% of Idahoans ages 5 and up are vaccinated, according to data from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.

daho has seen a COVID-19 spike in recent weeks, though it is slow going. Idaho’s health officials have said the Boise area is still considered high-risk.

Last week, COVID-19 vaccines became available for Idaho children 6 months and older. Vaccines were previously available for children five and older.
