This Boise restaurant reopened after a car plowed it. Now it’ll move to a ‘perfect place’

The past few years have been a roller-coaster ride for Tarbush Kitchen.

First there was the pandemic — and the toll it took on the hospitality industry.

Then a car crashed through the side of the building at 5749 W. Overland Road in 2022, closing Tarbush for nearly 10 months. Afterward, husband-and-wife owners Salam and Aseel Bunyan raised more than $24,000 through GoFundMe.

Now, less than a year after Tarbush reopened, the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurant has announced that it will move.

Tarbush Kitchen is heading to 2757 S. Broadway Ave., according to a post on its Facebook page. That’s the former home of now-defunct Pizza Pie Cafe.

“Our new spot is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat with friends and family,” Tarbush promised in a note addressed to “foodies.”

The new restaurant should be open before October, Tarbush wrote.

In the meantime, the Bunyans continue to operate the current restaurant, which opened in 2019. It serves lunch and dinner, and also offers online ordering.

The Overland location will be closed when the new restaurant opens, Tarbush wrote on Facebook.
