Boise State football coach Andy Avalos doesn’t mince words when it comes to recruiting quarterbacks.

“It all starts with the quarterback,” Avalos said on early signing day last December. “They run the show, and they have to lead on the field and in the locker room.”

Avalos said his goal is for a quarterback to anchor every recruiting class.

CJ Tiller anchored this year’s class. Maddux Madsen, who is the favorite to win the No. 2 job this year, was one of the highlights of the 2022 class.

Taylen Green, who was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year last season, led the 2021 class.

The Broncos now have their guy in their 2024 class.

Corona Del Mar High School quarterback Kaleb Annett verbally committed to Boise State on Tuesday.

Annett, a pro-style quarterback from Newport Beach, California, is a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports.

He made an unofficial visit to Boise State on June 13 and left town with a scholarship offer. Annett said he plans to make an official visit to campus sometime in September.

Will a No. 1 receiver emerge at Boise State or will it be by committee again?

He also has a scholarship offer from Princeton. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound three-sport athlete is the only 2024 quarterback that Boise State offered during this recruiting cycle. Annett also plays basketball and runs track at Corona Del Mar.

He wasn’t Corona Del Mar’s starting quarterback last season. He backed up David Rasor, who is now at UC Davis. Despite limited playing time, Annett still racked up 1,412 yards and 11 touchdown passes.
