Bojangles is putting a summertime twist on its beloved chicken sandwich, but not without help from NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

Two new barbecue chicken sandwiches arrived at Bojangles restaurants nationwide this week, the Charlotte-based chicken chain announced in a news release.

Inspired by the classic Bo’s chicken sandwich, customers have their pick of two new versions featuring:

  • Sweet and smokey barbecue sauce

  • Carolina Gold Sauce

Each sandwich comes with a hand-breaded chicken filet topped with coleslaw, pickles and the sauce of your choice on a toasted bun, according to a product description.

Earnhardt, a 26-time Cup Series winner and North Carolina native, has already picked a favorite.

“I’m from the Carolinas, where BBQ sauce is just a little bit different than what you find in other areas,” the retired race car driver said in a statement. “We have a vinegar-based sauce, where other places are a little sweet or spicy.”

“I like both, but you can never go wrong with the Carolina Gold.”

Both barbecue chicken sandwiches are available to order for a limited time, though Bojangles didn’t say when they will leave the menu.
