A video of a daring operation to eliminate an enemy position hidden in the garage of a dacha cooperative in Avdiivka was posted on Telegram by the Third Separate Assault Brigade on Feb. 21.

The soldiers approached the Russian position from the rear and strategically placed explosives under the thin walls of the building, literally behind the enemy's back.

Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on Feb. 17 that the Ukrainian army had withdrawn from Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, after four months of intense fighting and regular attacks by the Russian troops. This decision was made to avoid encirclement and to save the lives and health of the soldiers.

Dmytro Lykhoviy, head of the public relations department of the Tavria grouping, said that the withdrawal of troops from Avdiivka was as successful as the circumstances allowed.

The DeepState analytical portal reported that the Russian military shot six captured Ukrainian soldiers at the Museum position (formerly Zenit military unit) in Avdiivka, who remained there after the Ukrainian army retreated from the town. Four of them were wounded and unable to walk..

The Russians posted a video on social media showing the shot bodies lying on the premises of Garage No. 1. Analysts complain that a series of mistakes and delays in taking decisive action led to this tragedy.

Investigative outlet Slidstvo.info reported that the mother, wife, and sister of three Ukrainian soldiers out of six who were captured at the Zenit position identified their bodies in the video. Journalist Yuriy Butusov published a list of the names of the soldiers who remained at Zenit.

During the final stages of the battle for Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers might have been captured by Russian forces, The New York Times reported on Feb. 20, citing senior Western officials and Ukrainian military.

Two unnamed Ukrainian soldiers told the newspaper that an estimated 850 to 1,000 Ukrainian troops might have been taken prisoner or are considered missing in action during the recent withdrawal from Avdiivka. Western officials stated that these numbers "seem accurate."
