The Bold Type "coming soon" to BBC iPlayer

The Bold Type is coming to BBC iPlayer later this year, so fans and fashionistas be prepared.

The BBC has acquired all five seasons of the American comedy-drama series which is set in the fast-paced world of fashion and journalism in New York City.

The Bold Type follows young career-driven women Kat (Aisha Dee), Jane (Katie Stevens) and Sutton (Meghann Fahy) as their friendship and roles at Scarlet magazine grow. The series is loosely inspired by Joanna Coles, former Editor-in-Chief of Marie Claire and Cosmopolitan.

Katie is known for Faking It, Aisha from Look Both Ways, and Meghann recently starred in The White Lotus. It also stars Melora Hardin (The Office, US) as Jacqueline Carlyle and Sam Page (Mad Men) as Richard Hunter.

Currently, The Bold Type seasons 1 to 3 have been available on Freeform and Prime Video, and those lucky enough may have caught seasons 1 to 4 on Netflix before the platform removed them.

All seasons will join BBC Three and BBC iPlayer simultaneously, and although an official date is yet be announced, the broadcaster has said it is "coming soon". This will make the fifth and final season of The Bold Type's UK premiere.

Along with The Bold Type, the broadcaster acquired the Australian drama Bad Behaviour, which follows two women who meet years later and recall the events of a summer camp from their teenage years in which bullying came between their friendship.

BBC Head of Programme Acquisition, Sue Deeks, said: "We are delighted that these two series are joining our BBC Three and iPlayer line-up – they are very different in tone, but both feature characters that viewers will empathise and engage with as they deal with the complexities of life."

The Bold Type seasons 1-3 are available on Freeform and Amazon Prime Video, with all 5 seasons soon to be on BBC iPlayer and BBC Three.
