Two bomb threats were called into Florida State University Thursday afternoon and caused the evacuation of one building as authorities searched the area.

One call was for the Stone Building, at 1114 W. Call Street, and the other was for the Panama City campus, according to a statement from university spokesperson Dennis Schnittker.

Law enforcement searched both buildings, but nothing unusual was found, he added.

An initial alert from FSU posted on social media announced the evacuation of the Stone Building, asked people to stay out of the area and noted "a heavy police presence."

About an hour after the first alert was posted, Florida State wrote "all warnings have expired or been cancelled" and people can resume "normal activities responsibly."

The Stone Building houses FSU's College of Education.

Bomb threats also targeted schools in Volusia and Flagler counties Thursday, including Daytona State College, Flagler-Palm Coast High School in Palm Coast and the Flagler Technical Institute in Flagler County.

It is unclear if these threats are directly connected. A request for comment from FSUPD is pending.
