UPDATE: All clear in Cliffside Park following bomb threat

A bomb threat in Cliffside Park early Friday afternoon forced evacuations, but an investigation determined there were "no threats to public safety," the prosecutor's office announced.

The threat was reported at 12:41 p.m. in the 500 block of Anderson Avenue, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, which urged the public to avoid the area. Following a sweep by a bomb squad, residents were able to return around 5:30 p.m.

Authorities did not state if any one location was the focus of the bomb threat. The area is about two blocks from the local police department.

The investigation led by the prosecutor's office, Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and the Cliffside Park Police Department was aided by the Cliffside Park Fire Department and the United States Secret Service Newark Division.
