Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken set to open in Franklin, Murfreesboro and Smyrna
Do you get cold feet when ordering hot chicken? Fear not — a new fried chicken chain is heading to Middle Tennessee.
Bonchon, a South Korean chain known for crispy double-fried chicken, is set to open locations in Franklin, Murfreesboro and Smyrna.
Fried chicken is a classic American comfort food, but Korean cooks have been putting their own spin on the dish for years. At Bonchon, each piece is hand-battered, fried twice and then brushed with sauce, resulting in an extra-crispy bite. The taste might be familiar to Middle Tennessee eaters — several Asian fusion and Korean restaurants already serve the dish.
The company was founded in Busan, South Korea, in 2002. Since opening its first United States locations in 2006, the chain has popped up everywhere from the college town of Chapel Hill, N.C., to Fifth Avenue in New York City and Newport Beach, California.
