Bonkers New Twitter Craze Sees Japanese Parents Comparing Babies’ Arms To Bread

And the award for most bonkers social media trend goes to the ‘baby or bread?’ challenge. Please don’t adjust your screen, you read that right.
A new meme craze currently sweeping Japan invites social media users to post pictures comparing their babies’ adorably chubby arms to doughy bread rolls.
No longer content with squishing their babies’ cheeks into the shape of rice balls (that’s another crackers craze, google it), Japanese parents have taken to Twitter to share images of their babies placed beside bread rolls and tagged with the Japanese equivalent of of #MyBabysGotTheBestBreadPhoto.
And the results are every bit as hilarious as they are cute.

The out-there contest was inspired by the ‘pull-apart bread’ that’s sold in Japan’s 7-Eleven stores.
“I created a tag and hope everyone else will take a look at it,” tweeted one proud parent. “Am I the only one who feels that this will become the greatest tag?”
Clearly they’re onto something as since launching the hashtag has inspired hundreds of snaps featuring chubby baby arms lined up alongside break sticks, to which they bear an uncanny resemblance.

This isn’t the first time a food-themed meme has swept the Internet. Back in 2013, a bizarre craze saw women taking photographs of their tanned, glossy legs in the sun and comparing them to hot dogs.
Hotdog legs, bread arms, we can’t begin to imagine what’s next? Actually scrap that, we don’t even want to go there.
