Chicago’s own Bonnie Hunt is set to write and direct a series for kids based on ”Amber Brown,” the bestselling book series by Paula Danziger about a preteen girl figuring it all out in the wake of her parents’ divorce.

The series will star Carsyn Rose as the title character, “an everykid who is going through what many children experience, and making sense of her new family dynamic through her sketches and video diary.”

Hunt, who is an alumna of Second City, starred on her own sitcom “Life with Bonnie,” which ran from 2002-04. She was also the host of “The Bonnie Hunt Show,” which ran from 2008-10.

As an actor, she might be best known for her movies, including “Cheaper by the Dozen” with Steve Martin, the voice of Dolly in the “Toy Story” films, the Chicago-shot “Return to Me” and “Jerry Maguire.” More recently she appeared in 2018′s “Escape at Dannemora.”
