Bonobo American Bistro in Shorewood announced it is closing.

The bistro, 4518 N. Oakland Ave., has a message posted on the door:

"We are currently looking for a new restaurant to occupy this space ASAP. We can not thank this community enough for all the support these past few years. If you have any comment, questions, or concerns, please email me at spencer@bonobomke.com"

As of Aug. 11, owner Spencer Stewart had not yet responded to a request for comment. The restaurant, formerly North Star American Bistro, was purchased in late 2019 by Stewart, who remodeled it and reopened it in early 2020 with new menu items.
