The Annual Mile High Kite Festival 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sept. 3 in Beech Mountain, North Carolina. Kite clubs will be on hand to demonstrate flying techniques and run kid-friendly contests. Free kites will be given to children while supplies last. Activities include races with kids pulling parachute kites, face painting, kiddie rides, live music, and a variety of craft and food vendors. Spirit Fest, the longest-running event at Bon Secours Wellness Arena, is Sept. 3. The event will include a pre-show celebration, starting at 2:30 p.m., outside the arena with live performances, food trucks and games for the family.
