Boo! Kings Island ranks as best theme park Halloween event for second straight year

Halloween at Kings Island this year will be unlike anywhere else, and now the amusement park has a top ranking to prove it.

USA TODAY's 10Best released its rankings for "Best Theme Park Halloween Event" on Friday, and it crowned Kings Island's Halloween Haunt as the winner.

"Halloween Haunt at the legendary Kings Island near Cincinnati is back with evil creatures, frightening mazes, haunted attractions and night rides on The Beast, Banshee, Diamondback, Mystic Timbers and other thrill-inducing attractions," 10Best wrote. "Special lighting and fog effects turn the 364-acre complex into a spooky experience you’ll never forget."

This isn't the first year Kings Island has claimed the top spot in the category. The theme park previously won first in 2018 and 2021.

Fright Fest at multiple Six Flag locations came in second, Howl-O-Scream at multiple SeaWorld locations came in third and Howl-O-Scream at multiple Busch Gardens locations finished fourth.

Halloween Haunt opened for the season Friday and will run through Oct. 29.
