Book sale slated Oct. 14, 15 at Columbus Metropolitan Library

Grab a well-worn copy of a classic or overlooked book at the semiannual Friends of the Library book sale, to be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 14 and 15.

The sale, which benefits the Columbus Metropolitan Library, is to be held at the Main Library, 96 S. Grant Ave. in downtown Columbus.

From 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 16, Friends of the Library is to hold a clearance sale, at which patrons may fill a sturdy bag for $5 each. Those who purchase a Friends of the Library canvas tote fill it for $8.50.

Children's books start at $1, and adult fiction and nonfiction, CDs, DVDs and audiobooks start at $2 at the sale.

The material is no longer suitable for CML's collection, meaning the items no longer are in condition for circulation or the demand no longer requires the supply on bookshelves, said Ben Zenitsky, spokesperson for the library system.

Friends of the Library is an advocacy organization for CML. Proceeds from the sale go back to the library system's programs and services and help fund levy campaigns, Zenitsky said.

"These are materials that are well-loved by customers," he said. "A lot of them are in great shape. They run the gamut."
