Book sale, themed events and guest speaker highlight busy December for Zelienople Library

ZELIENOPLE — The Zelienople Area Public Library is planning different activities throughout the month of December.

Used book sale

One of these is a used book sale from Dec. 7-11. The sale will begin with a preview from 1-5 p.m. Dec. 7 and will cost $5 for a first chance to buy.

The sale will resume from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 8 and 9, and will conclude with a bag sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 10 and 11. Filling a bag will cost $5 each.

The sale will include quality items such as gently used donations and library discards, as well as a holiday bag sale of already prepared gift bags of books for slightly higher price.

There will be bestselling fiction, nonfiction, cookbooks, teen titles, children’s books, puzzles and games.

Holiday displays

The library will host a Polar Express night from 5:30-7 p.m., which will include an appearance from Santa Claus, a reading of the famous book 'Polar Express,' and different activity stations. Registration is required for the event.

The library will also host a life-size version of the board game Candyland from Dec. 21 through Jan. 5.

Participants of all ages will enjoy stepping into a life-sized game board and becoming the pieces of this classic children's game. Families may come and participate during open library hours. No registration required for the Candyland experience.

Final 2021 guest speaker

The library will conclude its 2021 Arts & Culture Speaker Series with a visit from Roxann Booser, the executive director of The Maridon Museum in Butler, at 7 p.m. Dec. 9.

Booser will speak about the museum's Chinese and Japanese art as well as its Meissen Porcelain Collection.
