'Boom!': Indian 'Twin Towers' Come Crashing Down in Controlled Explosion
The Supertech Twin Towers in the New Delhi suburb of Noida came crashing down in a controlled explosion on August 28, after their demolition was ordered by India’s Supreme Court for building violations.
The demolition of the 103-metre towers came almost a year after the court decision, the Times of India said. It involved some 3,700 kg (8,150 lbs) of explosives, and the temporary relocation of 5,000 local residents.
The Times of India cited the constructors, Supertech, as saying the towers had been built in accordance with a plan provided by local authorities.
