Destiny's knell seems to be sounding the Pawhuska High School girls basketball team.

As of Tuesday night, the Lady Huskies were only two wins away from the program's first-ever state championship title.

That's because they smashed No. 5-ranked Preston, 56-30, in the state quarterfinals, played at the OKC Fairgrounds.

No. 12 Pawhuska (26-4) returns Friday afternoon to face No. 8-ranked Howe (24-6) in the semifinals.

Preston kept it close through two quarters; Pawhuska dominated the second half by outscored Preston by 23 points.

Fallon Bowman dropped in 26 points to lead the Pawhuska shooting attack.

Looked at as a measuring stick Pawhuska's demolition of Preston is telling -- during the regular season, Preston had beaten Pawhuska, 51-47.

The state championship game is planned for Saturday afternoon in Oklahoma City.
