Casey Clevenger, commissioner of the 13th Judicial Circuit Treatment Court that serves Boone and Callaway counties, will serve as president of the Missouri Association of Treatment Court Professionals.

She was selected to lead the association after its annual conference in Branson.

Treatment courts are an alternative to incarceration and are designed to lead people with substance use and mental health issues out of the justice system, the 13th Judicial Circuit said in a news release.

Clevenger oversees dockets for both counties.

Treatment courts use a combination of court supervision, counseling, group meetings, drug testing, structure and accountability to break relapse cycles and recidivism, the court noted.
