Bootsy Collins Announces New Album, Shares Video for New Song “The Power of the One”: Watch
Bootsy Collins has announced a new album, sharing the title track and a new video along with it. It’s called The Power of the One and it’s out October 23 via Bootzilla Records/Sweetwater Studios. Check out the video for “The Power of the One,” which features guitar from jazz great George Benson, below.
In addition to a guest appearance from Snoop Dogg on the album track “Jam On,” Béla Fleck, Victor Wooten, and Dr. Cornel West also join the funk giant on a song titled “Stargate.” Collins released another version of “Stargate” in June, titled “Stars,” to benefit MusiCares. He explained the album’s concept in a short statement:
The Power of the One is what pulls us through. Everyone has “The One” inside of them. You never know who is using you for guidance, so always be pure and never fake the funk. Everybody’s got a light. Everybody needs to shine. It’s there, we just have to trust and use the guidance that is within us, and know that The One knows your program. It was written inside your heart before you made that mad dash racing to be the first one to the egg! You are perfect in the eyes of The One.
