LAS CRUCES – Las Cruces-based Border Jazz Orchestra is presenting “Migrations, A Celebration of Cultural Diversity in Music” Saturday, its final performance of the season.

The Border Jazz Orchestra is a professional jazz ensemble that features local musicians and guest artists in performances throughout the year.

The final concert of the 2022-2023 season will be held at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at the Atkinson Recital Hall on the New Mexico State University main campus.

Saturday’s program will include music originally written by Fred Sturm for vocalist Bobby McFerrin. Sturm is a former professor at the Eastman School of Music and Lawrence University.

According to a news release, “migration, in this case, bringing culture in music together from throughout the world, written in a jazz ensemble setting.” Set titles include:

Featured musicians will include Jessika Brust on violin, Allan Kaplan on trombone, James Shearer on tuba, Chantal Camus on bass and Miguel Torres on piano.

Admission is $15 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at https://checkout.square.site/buy/FOANKFOL6NZQY6XWLCGOM4BH. Atkinson Recital Hall is located at 1075 N. Horseshoe St.
