Boris Johnson Calls Trump 'Previous President' in Commons Reply

While Donald Trump has yet to accept the result of the US presidential election, he was referred to as the “previous president” by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson in the House of Commons on November 11.

Johnson was responding to a question from Labour MP Angela Eagle, who asked whether the PM had “any advice for his erstwhile best friend President Trump.”

Johnson said: “I had and have a good relationship with the previous president. I do not resile from that. It’s the duty of all British prime ministers to have a good relationship with the White House.”

Johnson added that he was “delighted to find the many areas in which the incoming Biden-Harris administration is able to make common cause with us”.

Johnson tweeted on November 10 that he had spoken with Biden, and was looking “forward to strengthening the partnership between our countries”. Credit: UK Parliament via Storyful
