Boris Johnson news – live: Bercow scuppers bid for fresh vote on Brexit deal amid court challenge over 'childish' EU letters
John Bercow has blocked Boris Johnson's request to hold a knife-edge Commons vote on his Brexit deal after the Speaker ruled that the government could not re-run the same vote.
The prime minister has now shifted focus to fast-tracking the EU Withdrawal Agreement Bill through parliament by 31 October, giving MPs until Thursday to debate the draft legislation.
It comes as judges at Scotland’s highest court have allowed a legal challenge to make sure Mr Johnson complies with the Benn Act to continue this week.
