Boris Johnson Brexit news LIVE: PM arrives in Berlin for talks with Angela Merkel

Boris Johnson has arrived in Berlin to begin talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The Prime Minister has travelled to Germany as he attempts to broker a new Brexit deal before the October 31 deadline, along with a solution to the Irish backstop.

Earlier, Ms Merkel vowed to discuss with Mr Johnson how to achieve "the most friction-free" Brexit during their meeting tonight.

Mr Johnson and Mrs Merkel greeted each other outside the Chancellery and are due to watch a military display.

It comes amid warnings that Mrs Merkel and other EU leaders will not make 11th hour concessions over Mr Johnson's requests.
