Borussia Dortmund remain adamant that England international Jadon Sancho will not now be leaving the club during the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have been heavily linked with the wide forward, but were told by the Bundesliga club they’d need to conclude a move before 10 August.

That didn’t materialise and, despite the transfer window remaining open until 5 October, BVB have since maintained that Sancho will remain in place for 2020/21.

Speaking to Ruhr Nachtrichten, former midfielder and now club director Sebastian Kehl said Sancho was happy at Signal Iduna Park and new challenges would wait until future seasons.

“Jadon has trained well and professionally. He is happy to play football,” he said.

"Yes, someday he might leave for a new challenge but right now he is happy at Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Dortmund is happy to have him.

“He is here – and he will stay here. It was an important statement from the club because we have a certain responsibility. Without Jadon, this team is worse.”

Sancho has already scored and assisted this season, netting in a cup game before teeing up Erling Haaland for his side’s third in the win over Borussia Monchengladbach on the opening weekend of the Bundesliga season.

United have struggled to land their primary targets this summer, bringing in Donny van de Beek from Ajax but missing out on rumoured shortlisted players Sergio Reguilon, Thiago Alcantara, Jack Grealish and Sancho.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says the Old Trafford club remain “working hard” to make new additions before the window shuts.
