Boryspil will be the first Ukrainian airport to open once ‘security situation’ allows, Kyiv says

Ukraine is planning to reopen the Kyiv-Boryspil Airport first, but only after security issues related to the ongoing war are resolved, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Andrii Sybiha said on Dec. 1.

During a meeting with foreign diplomats, Sybiha recalled that Boryspil Airport was the first to close at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion. According to him, it will also be the first to reopen.

The deputy head assured those present that the airport will reopen "as soon as the security situation allows."

In October, Boryspil Airport CEO Oleksiy Dubrevsky stated that the facility would be ready to receive planes one month after the war's end.

Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak, during his trip to the United States, announced the potential reopening of one of Ukraine's airports for civilian flights. He did not specify a timeline, but from the context of his remarks, it could be understood that it referred to the airport's operation even before the end of the war with Russia.
