Bosch: Legacy has paid tribute to two of its main series stars during its second season premiere.

The police procedural drama, which is an Amazon Freevee spinoff of Bosch, marked the deaths of Lance Reddick and Annie Wersching with a title card at the very start of the season two premiere reading: "In Loving Memory of Our Friends Annie Wersching and Lance Reddick."

Wersching died in January. She played rookie police officer Julia Brasher in Bosch's very first season, making guest appearances later in its run.

Julia was also a love interest to Titus Welliver's character Hieronymus 'Harry' Bosch, but their relationship was short-lived.

Reddick passed away in March of this year. He appeared throughout Bosch's seven-season run as police chief Irvin Irving.

Bosch: Legacy, a spinoff of the original series, brings back Welliver as Harry – the former LAPD detective works as a freelance private investigator in the spin-off.

Mimi Rogers and Madison Lintz also reprise their respective roles as Honey Chandler, Bosch's frequently adversarial defence attorney, and Madeline Bosch, Harry's daughter.

Though Wersching's character will not feature in the spinoff, which was announced ahead of its original series's final season in 2021, Reddick is expected to appear in a few episodes in Bosch: Legacy season two.

Reddick will make a posthumous appearance as the god of thunder Zeus in Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

He was also well known for his work in the John Wick action movie franchise, The Wire, Fringe, Oz and Lost. Reddick also appeared in Netflix's Resident Evil series, and voiced Sylens in the hugely popular Horizon video game franchise.

Wersching's filmography included roles in 24, Timeless and The Rookie. She also voiced Tess in Naughty Dog's video game The Last of Us, which was adapted into a TV series by HBO.

Bosch was Prime Video's longest-running one-hour series before its cancellation, and its first season drew inspiration from several Michael Connelly novels.

Bosch: Legacy is available to stream on Amazon Freevee.
