Boston Celtics reportedly working out Ohio State guard Duane Washington Jr.

The Boston Celtics are evidently still hard at work on their pre-draft slate of prospect workouts, with Ohio State guard Duane Washington Jr. according to Forbes Sports’ Chris Grenham.

Washington, who received a G League Elite Camp invite in Chicago next weekend ahead of the draft combine per Grenham, is a 6-foot-3 floor general seen as a fringe prospect to be taken in the 2021 draft. That suggests he is one of several players worked out by Boston in recent days in line for either a camp invite or perhaps the Celtics’ second-round pick, slated to fall square in the middle of the draft’s second round at No. 45.

A potential returnee to the college ranks, Washington may be using the workouts to feel out whether a move to the pro ranks makes sense as much as pro teams are getting a feel for his game.

While he has issues with consistency, the Michigan native scored 16.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game in his junior season with the Buckeyes, so it’s not out of the question that he’ll make the leap.
