The Boston Marathon is Monday. Do you know anyone running?

Monday, April 17 is Patriots' Day, a state holiday in Massachusetts, when the 127th annual running of the Boston Marathon will take place. The 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton, Massachusetts to Boston will feature nearly 30,000 athletes from more than 100 countries.

Even if you are one of those people who only runs when someone is chasing you, you might want to follow a friend, neighbor or professional who is running. You can track your runner from the B.A.A. website, or by downloading the B.A.A. Racing App, which is available for both Apple and Android platforms. You can also sign up for alerts on the progress of your favorite runner.

How long is the Boston Marathon? The distance remains the same, but your times may vary

There are 40 runners from Windham and New London counties who are running. Bib numbers indicate the runner's approximate start time. Runners with bibs numbered 201-7,800 are in Wave 1, and will wear red bibs and start at 10 a.m. Runners with bibs numbered 8,000-15,999 are in Wave 2, and have white bibs and start at 10:25 a.m. Wave 3 runners have blue bibs numbered 16,000-23,999 and start at 10:50 a.m., followed by the runners in Wave 4, who will have yellow bibs numbered 24,000-32,999 and start at approximately 11:15 a.m.
