Boston Mayor Kim Janey Gets Vaccinated After Giving First COVID Update

Acting Boston Mayor Kim Janey got the coronavirus vaccine Friday.

- On the day of her first Coronavirus news conference, Boston's acting mayor received her COVID-19 vaccine. Mayor Kim Janey says that she became eligible for the shot after volunteering at a vaccination clinic. In Roxbury today, she announced a $1.5 million initiative to help communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. The mayor encouraged everyone to get the shot for the good of the city.

KIM JANEY: We have to ensure that we come out of this pandemic stronger than before and a much more equitable city than before. And so really important that we get information out, get the facts out so that people can make informed decisions.

- And the mayor emphasized it's important for faith and community leaders to lead by example and get the vaccine.
