Lubbock Christian University coach Steve Gomez and the Lady Chaps will play Texas Woman's in the first round of the Division II NCAA Tournament this week. The game is a rematch of Saturday's Lone Star Conference tournament semifinal that Texas Woman's won 84-49.

No. 11 Texas Woman's handed Lubbock Christian University the Lady Chaps' worst loss in more than 13 years Saturday in the semifinals of the Lone Star Conference basketball tournament.

The Lady Chaps won't have a long wait for their chance to make amends.

LCU (22-10) is the No. 7 seed in the South Central Region tournament and will play No. 2 seed Texas Woman's (26-5) in a first-round game at 2:30 p.m. Friday in San Angelo. Angelo State (25-6) is the No. 1 seed and host of the regional.

The South Central is one of eight regionals that make up the 64-team Division II NCAA Tournament. The NCAA announced the bracket late Sunday.

Texas Woman's 84-49 victory Saturday against LCU was the Lady Chaps' largest margin of defeat since a 94-40 loss on Jan. 2, 2010 at Oklahoma City University. TWU beat LCU 75-69 in a conference game Jan. 21 in Denton.

LCU also is the No. 7 seed in the men's South Central regional, for which West Texas A&M will be the top seed and host in Canyon. The Chaps (19-11) get No. 2 seed Fort Lewis (28-3) in a first-round game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the First United Bank Center. The two programs have not faced each other since they met six times from 1973 to 1980.

Fort Lewis, ranked No. 5 and No. 6 in the two major Division II polls, has matched its school single-season victories record. The Skyhawks earned a share of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference regular-season championship and won the conference tournament.
