Boulder County-area cone zones for Aug. 6-12

Aug. 5—Boulder

—Hill Hotel: Westbound Pleasant is open for local traffic from Broadway to the alley. The eastbound lane is closed for demolition of old buildings and waterline and new sewer work. Crews will be repaving Pleasant Street from Broadway to 12th Street until Thursday. Activity time is 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Anticipated to end Jan. 31.

—Limelight Hotel: Construction on this new hotel and conference center will result in a one-way road on 13th Street from University to Grandview and Grandview from 13th to Broadway with no parking. For the construction of a turn lane on Broadway, northbound lanes will be closed. Two-lane traffic will be in the southbound lane. Activity time is 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Anticipated to end Jan. 1.

—19th Street improvements: Utility work will occur in advance of the city's 19th Street multimodal improvements project. The street will be single lane for vehicle travel where work is active. Activity time is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The project is anticipated to end Aug. 31.

Longmont

—Hover Street: Hover Street will be closed between Colo. 119 (Ken Pratt Boulevard) and Pike Road to replace deteriorating concrete panels along the railroad, where it crosses the roadway. Construction is expected to begin Monday and conclude Friday, with traffic detoured during this time.

—Firestone-Longmont mobility hub: The Colorado Department of Transportation is constructing the Firestone-Longmont Mobility Hub at the Interstate 25 and Colo. 119 interchange. Daytime work hours are expected between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, with periodic overnight work. Motorists can expect periodic single-lane closures on Colo. 119 and I-25 and on- and off-ramp closures, as well as 11-foot lane restrictions on the southbound I-25 on-ramp and the northbound off-ramp at Exit 240. Tuesday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. construction crews will be realigning the southbound and northbound off-ramps. The Colorado Department of Transportation will have temporary closures that impact the I-25 southbound and northbound off-ramps at Exit 240, at Colo. 119 and southbound I-25 main line. The project is expected to be completed by August 2024.

—Longs Peak Avenue: Work on the Price Park Tank Replacement Project is underway. This 18-month-long project is intended to improve water quality and service within the city. Eastbound and westbound lanes on Longs Peak Avenue now run next to each other along the south side of the road between Sunset Street and the entrance to the Sunset Golf Course. Access to Price Park is currently closed and parking in the Sunset Golf Course and Pool parking lot will be limited until next spring. Recreational facilities — including Sunset Park, Sunset Pool and Sunset Golf Course — are expected to remain open during construction. There is still two-way traffic, but the existing westbound lane is expected to remain closed and the new traffic pattern to remain in place until the project is completed in spring.

Superior

—Indiana Street: Indiana Street will be closed as part of phase one of the Coalton Road and Indiana Street improvement project kicks off. Indiana Street will be closed to traffic from Coalton Road past Topaz Street. Roadway improvements will address asphalt cracks and distress near the Mountain View Fire Rescue Station No. 5. Detour routes will be set up along McCaslin Boulevard and North Torreys Peak Drive during the initial phase, routing local traffic around the road closure. The closure is scheduled to last about two weeks.

Boulder County

—U.S. 287 and Colo. 52: The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin safety and traffic flow improvements at the intersection of U.S. 287 and Colo. 52 in Boulder County. Motorists can expect single left-lane closures during the day on both U.S. 287 and Colo. 52 at the intersection. Right-turn lanes in all directions will be fully closed until further notice. Full access to roadways, area businesses and driveways will be maintained. The project is expected to be completed in October.

—Colo. 170 culvert replacement project: Culvert replacement work is expected to begin at Colo. 170 and Marshall Road on Monday. Work consists of replacing a culvert with wing walls underneath the roadway and excavating and patching asphalt along the highway. Work will generally take place Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the intersection, with construction crews utilizing single lane closures and shoulder closures along Colo. 170 and Marshall Road. 24-hour single lane closures will be in effect utilizing traffic signals. Alternative routes along U.S. 36 are advised. The project is expected to be completed in November.

—Longmont Dam Road bridge rehabilitation: This project has been suspended until the fall due to high water.

—Hygiene Road paving project: The Road Maintenance Division will repave all of Hygiene Road between U.S. 36 and 75th Street. Work is expected to last through August, weather permitting. The western half of the road will be fully removed and rebuilt from the the ground up, while the eastern half will receive a mill and overlay. Due to the full-depth reclamation on the west end, all travelers can expect significant delays during working hours, which are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Until paving begins, the road will be in less than ideal conditions (gravel on the west and milled asphalt on the east). Cyclists may want to avoid this road until paving has been completed. Speeds will be reduced during the project.

—U.S. 36 surface and safety improvements: A surface and safety improvement project on U.S. 36 between Boulder and Lyons is ongoing. Work will involve widening and resurfacing several sections of roadway. Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will require the use of through lane, turning lane and shoulder closures, which will result in travel delays. There is also night work planned at various times throughout the project. This work will take place between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. and run through August, weather permitting.

Weld County

—The west leg of WCR 44 at U.S. 85 is closed through Aug. 14 for asphalt paving. The signed detour route uses WCR 31 and WCR 42.

—WCR 33 is closed to all traffic at U.S. 85.

Frederick

—Pavement maintenance program: Patching with mill and overlay work will occur in the Savannah neighborhood. Additional asphalt patching is scheduled for Fifth Street in Downtown Frederick, Tipple Parkway between Colorado Boulevard and Ridgeway Boulevard, Downtown Frederick, Morningside Estates and other areas identified as an area of need.

Mead

—Weld County Road 13: Through Aug. 11, WCR 13 will be closed in both directions between Red Barn Avenue and Grand View Drive. Immediately following this full road closure, there will be a one-lane closure with flagger. This road closure is related to the Red Barn development. Variable message boards and detour signage will be utilized. Motorists should use WCR 9.5 as their main detour route.

—Asphalt patching: Contractors will begin asphalt patching in downtown Mead, generally in the areas of Main Street, Dillingham Avenue, Fairbairn Avenue, Palmer Avenue and Fifth Street. After completion of these asphalt patches, contractors will begin patching in the commercial district, WCR 32 (east of I-25), WCR 9.5, WCR 28, and Third Street (south of Welker Avenue). All street maintenance is dependent on weather.

—Crack and slurry seal: Crack seal and slurry seal will commence in Hunters Cove neighborhood. Traffic control signage and flaggers will be used during this road work. All street maintenance is dependent on weather.

—Weld County Road 36 and I-25 Frontage Road: Asphalt paving will take place on Monday at the intersection of WCR 36 and I-25 Frontage Road. The purpose of this paving project is to repair paving related to gas line installation and work previously completed in the road, for the Access 25 Industrial Park. The intersection will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Alternative routes and detour signage will be placed around the work area.

Erie

—Four Corners — Erie Parkway: Single-lane shifts in place for road work on Erie Parkway and County Line Road. Asphalt Specialties will be doing road work improvements on Erie Parkway, just west of County Line Road. Traffic will have continuous access though delays may be possible. Single-lane shifts or closures will be in place. Work will take place between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The project is expected to last into September.
